Becoming Too PC

It used to be said, ‘You don’t need to ask Duey his opinion, you’re going to hear it whether you want to or not.’ A simple Google search of ‘Duey Evans’ used to bring up an online vlog I did called ‘Rants & Raves’ and later, something called ‘That’s How I See It’. The search I did today revealed a lot of boring dribble about websites, twitter feeds and a general listing of my YouTube channel. Along the journey through adulthood, I seem to have lost my voice!

Something I find humorous is ‘Where the only thing PC is the computer used to edit this’ was the slug line for ‘Rants & Raves’. We now edit on Macs and it feels like all the content I’m pushing out on Insights – Duey Evans and my SNAVE Group weekly coaching minute is more sterile than most infectious disease centers. During the dark, on nights I have no recollection of, I began measuring my responses to the world around me in an attempt to please the largest number of people. The easiest way to do that was to provide educational content.

Don’t get me wrong, Insights and my weekly SNAVE Group posts are extremely valuable. Earlier this month I posted a video about the necessity to differentiate oneself if you ever hope to displace the current leaders in any field. The advice was sound, but I wonder if I was actually finding a way to speak to the Mr. Milk Toast self I was seeing in the mirror.  After all, I wouldn’t be the first person to use projection as a means of self-protection.

Something is obviously missing! I hate retreading across paths I have already crossed, but need to recapture my voice. Today I own a media company, so simply sitting in front of a camera and popping off about the things I find right and wrong about the world and then posting on a social media channel I would be over hyping to call obscure isn’t enough. The answer is not yet clear. However, it is precisely this sort of challenge I setup EKH Media to solve.

Stay tuned!
